PRINCIPAL, JAY WILLETS
To our Pacetti Bay Community,
I would like to formally welcome all our Wildcat learning community members to Pacetti Bay Middle School. Throughout my instructional career I have had the opportunity to serve as an educator in the St. Johns County School District since 1993. After earning a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) through Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, I continued my studies towards a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from University of North Florida.
As a beginning teacher to St. Johns County, I taught language arts and varying exceptionalities at Switzerland Point Middle and eventually moved to the instructional positions of emotionally handicapped, behavior specialist and Dean of Students at St. Augustine High School. Following my tenure as a SAHS Yellow Jacket, I moved to the position of Assistant Principal at The Evelyn Hamblen Center and was appointed as principal to lead the district’s five alternative schools. In 2008, I was fortunate to continue to serve the children of St. Augustine as the principal of John A. Crookshank Elementary School for seven years as a CES Cougar.
In June, 2014 Dr. Joyner offered me the opportunity return to my middle school roots to become the Principal of Pacetti Bay Middle School. As a lifelong learner and an involved member of the St. Johns County community, I feel fortunate having an opportunity to join the PBMS Wildcat Family!
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, TWILA POWERS
I am very excited to serve as an Assistant Principal at Pacetti Bay. I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and Speech from Southern Arkansas University and obtained my Masters in Educational Leadership through Walden University. I have served as an educator with St. Johns County for the past 18 years. My leadership roles include Elementary Administrator, Virtual Coordinator, registrar, dean, literacy coach, and classroom instructor in levels K-12. My most recent role as the Assistant Principal of Cunningham Creek Elementary afforded me an incredible opportunity to work closely with special needs students. The experience and knowledge I gained will be invaluable as incorporate our own self-contained classroom here at The Bay. I know it will be an asset to the nurturing community of PBMS.
I look forward to the upcoming year as a new Wildcat. I know it will be a great one!!
